Nettle leaves are highly anti-inflammatory. I drink a 1/2 to a quart a day of nettle infusions to help with inflammation and to prove me with a wonderful source of nutrients. Nettle infusions contain a number of essential minerals including iron, calcium, potassium and magnesium. Nettle is approved by the German Commission E for internal and external use in the support of inflammation. For its diuretic properties, it is approved for support of the lower urinary tract. Promotes healthy immune response to allergens; supports immune system function; nourishes the body; supports the hormonal system; promotes kidney function and strengthens the adrenals ( use as part of adrenal fatigue recovery) : relieves anxiety and builds focused energy.
One 8oz bag of our dried nettles makes over 20 quarts of nettle infusion.
MORE INFO ON NETTLES:
Nettle infusions are the best way to get all the benefits of nettle in your body. Dr. Andrew Wiel M.D. author of Natural Health/ Natural Medicine says he knows of nothing more effective than nettle for allergy relief. And his statement is backed up by studies at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Nettle is amazingly rich nutrients: calcium, magnesium, iron, B complex vitamins, C complex, vitamins A, D and K. Nettle is a power house of the critical trace minerals: anti-cancer selenium, immune-enhancing sulphur, memory-enhancing zinc, diabetes-chasing chromium, and bone-building boron. A quart of nettle infusion contains more than 1000 milligrams of calcium, 15000 IU of vitamin A, 760 milligrams of vitamin K, 10% protein, and lavish amounts of most B vitamins. It is wonderful for those needing vitamin supplements. It is approved by the German Commission E for reducing inflammation. This is a must have for me when it comes to controlling inflammation that comes from arthritis and fibromyalgia.
You must consume infused nettle on a regular basis to get all the benefits. Drinking a glass of cold nettle infusion pumps so much nourishment into the blood; you can feel invigorated in just a few days. Regular use of stinging nettle (I drink 3 quarts a week) is the only way to really benefit. I also use nettle infusions as part of my regiment for treating clients with adrenal fatigue.
Take 1/3 cup of dried stinging nettle ( it must be dried) and place in a quart jar. Cover with hot water and let stand for 4 hours to overnight. Strain and drink. You may add honey, agave or maple syrup to sweeten. Will keep in the fridge for up about 2 days.
As an infusion I recommend starting with a quart a day for the first 6 to 8 weeks. Then 1/2 a quart a day as minimum daily amount. I drink a quart a day, everyday.
EACH 8oz bag of our dried nettle makes over 20 quarts of nettle infusion!
